Are you the owner? You must appear as either the grantee or purchaser to be able to sell your number plate.
Is the numberplate non-transferrable? - On your V5C log book for your vehicle if the words “non transferrable” appear then you will be unable to transfer the number.
Is the number plate on retention? To sell your numberplate you will need to add the buyer as a nominee in order to complete the sale/transfer
Is the number plate on a vehicle? To sell your numberplate you will need to complete DVLA form V317 – cherished transfer from vehicle to vehicle. You must be the registered keeper for the vehicle that currently holds the personalised number plate.
